In this video clip, we see that a dental abscess is a painful infection that can be caused by certain types of bacteria entering pulp tissues of your teeth. They can enter through cracks in your teeth, crowns and other leaking dental restorations or a naturally occurring lateral canal.
Once the abscess is recognized by your body, you’ll experience hyperemia. This is an increased blood flow produced to combat the bacteria that are contributing to the abscess.
After this, the infection could spread down to your jawbone. This newly located infection can now result in throbbing, swelling, and numbness.
